Thai Beef Salad One

Hi there everybody :) ,

Good to see you all again :) Like what I said, I am going to update a simple, easy, healthy salad dish for everyone. Am sure this dish is one of the most popular Thai dishes in Australia, generally Thai beef salad on menus in most restaurants (mainly western) is NOT really Thai Beef Salad. The good place to go is Thai or Laos restaurants, both of them are really similar. I know this because I’ve been living here quite a long time now and getting to know more about Australian foods. Question me why I am so sure if it s not a real Thai beef salad? The Answers are

1. We don’t normally put sweet soy sauce in.

2. The Traditional must use fresh herbs not dried herbs.

I do respect the Ozzie cooking Style which I LIKE very much. They bring a signature of foods from many cuisines and cook with their own style. In my opinion anything that is not traditional dishes I would call AUSTRALIAN FOODS (Ozzie Contemporary).

So here we come to a conclusion, the name to call non-traditional Thai Beef Salad in Australia is Ozzie Beef Salad!

Thai beef Salads have not just one style in Thailand, (depending on what region they come from) so I will introduce only the three major styles where you can find 24/7 in Thailand ;0) and almost all of the Thai restaurants here in Australia.

Thai Beef Salad, Recipe number ONE.

Served 1-2

Ingredients

Beef 200 Grams

Chilli paste 1 Table spoon

Lime or Lemon Juice 2-3 Table spoon

Sugar 1 -2 tea spoon

Fish Sauce 1-2 Table Spoon

oil

Herbs such as Coriander, red onion, mint, chopped spring onion, long chilli, cucumber and Tomato.

Method,

1. Prepare all the herbs as shown on the picture below; chopped spring onion and pick the mint and coriander leaves. Cut chilli, slice Spanish onion, cucumber and cut half cherry tomato. If you use Tomato just slice them like cucumber.

2. Slice beef if you buy a non-sliced one. Make tiny slice approximately 2 x 2 inches square but well; no need to fuss!! As much as you enjoy doing it.Just anything you like.

3. Spray oil on the pan, turn on stove at medium then simply place sliced beef in. No need to wait for pan to be heated.

4. Quickly put chilli paste in the bowl and put lime juice and a little bit of sugar in, mixed them well until smooth, taste them, if not salty enough put fish sauce in. Taste should be sour, salty, sweet and a bit hot. By the time you do mix the dressing don’t forget to look at your grilled beef. Look at the colour, if it is turned a bit brown simply flip it over to the other side. We don’t need to do this many times, Please Remember this! The more the beef gets cooked the more likely that beef is going to be tough and sticky. So don’t overcook.

5. Put grilled beef into dressing, mixing them over, then add the herbs but leave some for garnishing if you are cooking for someoneJ. Slowly mix them up because if you do it fast the herbs will be a bit soggy and will turn brown.

6. Simply put on plate. Use coriander, spring onion, cut chilli and mint for garnishing. Topped with dried shallots. If you can find one, squeeze lemon on top again before serving.

Tip: You should add the sugar and fish sauce last while mixing the dressing because the chilli paste will be a little bit salty. The Chilli paste can be found in any Asian grocery store.

Now the fresh, healthy and fabulous Traditional Thai Beef Salad will be ready to serve. If you cook so many dishes remember salad should be the last one to cook because the more fresh you serve the yummier it can be and people will appreciate it more.

Next time we will do Thai beef Salad (Isan Style). Recipe TWO. Can’t wait to speak out again.

SEE?? COOKING IS NO BIG DEAL!!

Well, Well, Well,

Hope it helps you survive another day

You know you love foods

Xoxo
